Traveling Apple Policy

In an effort to reduce food waste, the Alisal Union School District implemented the Traveling Apple policy in 2020. As part of the policy, students are able to take whole fruits home and are also required to empty milk into containers and sort food scraps into organic and trash containers.

The following videos were produced by Salinas Valley Recycles with assistance from students at Jesse G. Sánchez and Dr. Oscar F. Loya elementary schools. They are designed to help students understand the Traveling Apple Policy and the food diversion system.
