Inter, Intra- District Transfer

Intra-District Transfer Requests

Intra-District Change Requests are valid for one year only and must be applied for each new school year by the last day of the preceding school year. Intra-District students may be asked to return to their school of residency to permit new students to enroll in their neighborhood school. Shifts will usually happen within the first 10 days of the beginning of the school year, or at the trimester/semester. Exceptions are seen in BP 5118.

Students who are overflowed by the district due to lack of space at their school of attendance and whose parents request an Intra-District transfer to an alternative school to the District identified overflow school will be considered on a space-available basis. The District identified overflow school is chosen to guarantee continued enrollment at that school. The district cannot guarantee continued enrollment at alternative sites.

Inter-District Transfer Requests

The Board expects parents who live within our attendance boundaries to enroll their students in our schools, so we can continue to plan and meet our commitments. However, AUSD has established a process to evaluate requests for students who reside in one district while intending to attend school in another district. This process is called an Inter-District transfer request. The request must be approved by the district in which the student lives and the desired district of attendance to allow the student to enroll.  Inter-District Attendance Request Parent Handbook contains information to help clarify this process for parents, students, and the community (be patient as it downloads). Please complete the Inter-District Transfer Form and drop it off at the District Office or mail it using the address on the form. Any questions about the process that is not explained in the parent handbook may be directed to Angie Gutierrez at 831.753.5700 ext:2011.
