Members of AUSD's ALMA initiative have been invited to participate and present at the Labor Management Institute that will be taking place in San Diego from June 19-21. AUSD will be sending a team made up of CSEA, ATA, and management. The steering committee has sent out the word to the all sites for interested participants and AUSD staff have responded enthusiastically. The majority of the team will be composed of Cohort 1 and 2 sites, but we will also be sending representatives from the third cohort schools that will be added to the district wide initiative in the fall. It will be a great experience for all participants.
In addition to the learning that will be taking place over the three days, AUSD has also been invited to participate on two different panels. First, members from the ALMA DLT will share the work that has been done in our district to better improve labor relations and student achievement. The team will have the opportunity to share the challenges and success that we have faced during this journey. The purpose of the second panel will be to highlight the Alisal Family Resource Center (AFRC) and the work that Dr. Carissa Purnell, AFRC Director, and her team are doing to help in "teaching the whole child" especially those that have faced traumatic events.
